After we left Memphis, we went to New Orleans. On the way, we passed this unusual subdivision. There were no streets, only canals.
We tried to find a place to eat here, but all we found was mosquitos...

The lobby of our hotel, The Monteleone ......

We spent most of our 1st day walking through the French Quarter, gawking and listening to the music.

Theresa did some more hugging ...

...and I did a little "gambling".

There are no horse drawn carriages in New Orleans. They only use mules. I asked one of the drivers why, and he told me that horses are "just too stupid to do this".

Bourbon Street, like most streets in 'the quarter' is about half of a mile long. Its not really possible (or even decent) to show everything there, but there are bars and churches, antique and hardware stores, dirty books and art galleries, street musicians and perverts, restaurants and souvenir shops. The party goes on all night.

The next morning we had breakfast at the Cafe Beignet

We rode the St. Charles Avenue streetcar and  the Canal Street Ferry, walked to the  Louis Armstrong Park, and visited one of "walled cities of the dead".

We had lunch at the Old Nawlins Cookery on Conti St. and then headed over to ..

GULF SHORES, ALABAMA

...where this is what I did all day

...and this is what Theresa did

We had lunch ...
                                                                                                          ...and headed home.
