We went on our First Moonbow Quest in May. The weather was beautiful. We got to Cumberland Falls State Park about 3 PM and tried to get a room in the lodge,
but were told they were full. So we went down to the river and spent most of the afternoon exploring.

We went back to the lodge to see if maybe a room was available, and found out that someone had canceled!

We got a nice cottage for the night....

...and went back to the lodge for dinner. Afterwards we sat out on the patio where we had this beautiful view of the Cumberland River. We stayed here the entire evening, watching and feeding the many raccoons in the small clearing just below the patio. The full moon rose bright orange just over the river, and there were absolutely no clouds in the sky. We knew that the moon would not be visible at the waterfall until about 1 AM, so we waited until about Midnight before hiking down the trail (with our fold-up chairs which Theresa hated). After we were seated, watching the stars, we first noticed the clouds. By 1 o'clock, only a few stars were visible, and the moon was just starting to clear the last mountain top. We waited, and snoozed (in the fold up chairs which Theresa loved) for a break in the clouds  until 4 AM.  No such luck. The next morning we went back to the falls, and got some great Sunbow pictures.

We didn't get to see a Moonbow this trip, but we plan on returning in October to try again!

And we did return!

Early in the morning of October 14,  we were there, the moon was full, the sky was clear, and ...

...we saw a Moonbow!
